The Forward Learning Initiative, placing personal devices at the fingertips of LVUSD students in grade 3, rolls out this upcoming school year. Students will receive devices throughout November and December of the 2015-2016 academic calendar. Third grade teachers will receive three trainings prior to the devices being delivered to students and will have a dedicated media specialist to support their needs to successfully integrate technology into their curriculum.

Please mark your calendars for the following professional development opportunities.

Each training will be conducted three times on the same day: 8:00-11:00am, 1:00-3:00pm, or 3:00-5:00pm. 3rd grade teams may attend each session at any of the three times it is offered. The three hour morning option will provide more opportunities for questions for those who feel they may need more support. Teachers who choose to attend training after school hours will receive half-day sub pay. 

The Forward Learning 1:1 6th grade pilot is in full swing! All 6th grade students at LCMS, AEW, and ACS received their laptops 60 days ago! All 6th grade teachers attended four Forward Learning trainings in anticipation of the laptop  rollout. The trainings began in October and continued through March. Each session was designed to get teachers comfortable with the student laptops, explore new technology tools, design classroom plans, and, most importantly, plan and collaborate. Each middle school also has a group of student tech leaders that are on site troubleshooting laptop issues and making repairs.

Next year we will be expanding the  rollout into the high school for 9th and 10th grade students and continuing in the middle schools with 6th and 7th grade students. In preparation for next year, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th grade teachers will begin to attend trainings after spring break. The dates for the these trainings are as follows:
